the value of Crown Lands must of course be debited to
Railway Account equally with that of lands resumed. In the
second place as I have said the portions of Lots 1141
618 which were to be resumed under Scheme 2 involved such
a depreciation of the value of the sites that the propor-
-tional value per Square Foot in comparison to the rate per
Square Foot if the whole is resumed would have been much
greater.

An actual comparison of the land
resumed for the Station Site under the three schemes is

while 121,420 Square Feet of extremely valuable Crown Land
is saved. The area taken of Blackhead's (25,600) being in
the extreme North-West corner does not depreciate its
